Preventing Obesity
Over the last two to three decades, obesity prevalence has drastically increased. Obesity is a condition that is currently affecting both the young and the elderly globally. According to Atakan (2021), obesity entails having excessive body fat, and this condition increases the risks of an individual having other health problems like heart attack, diabetes, and high blood pressure. The condition results from environmental, inherited, and psychological factors. Castro (2020) portrays that despite the high risk associated with having this condition, it can be prevented by calorie restrictions in combination with regular exercise. Thus, as a means of preventing the onset of diabetes in pre-diabetic individuals, the chances of individuals being obese are prevented.
Calorie restrictions combined with regular exercise have been proven to be the most effective method when an individual aims to maintain a healthy weight. Thus, the two methods primarily focus on ensuring an energy balance in the body (Hawley, 2020). Calorie restriction is based on the concept that calories consumed are stored in fat tissue. Thus, controlling the amount consumed helps ensure a healthy weight. On the other hand, regular exercise entails increasing the energy expenditure in the body (Castro, 2020). Through physical exercise, the enzymes involved in metabolic pathways are activated, which plays a critical role in improving vascular mitochondrial function. Therefore, with these two combinations, cases of obesity are reduced, and this plays a crucial role in preventing diabetes in society. 
Method
One way of using this model as a guide is to educate individuals on the food they should take and the quantity to help with calorie restriction. Individuals are more likely to participate in the program if they are informed about what they should eat and the benefits it has on their bodies.
