Fulton County is located in the state of Georgia. Data USA estimates the county’s population to be around 1.05 million (2021). Also, the median household income is listed as $70,930, with the number of employees in the county indicated as 544,695 (2021). However, there is one damning statistic known as the poverty rate, which currently stands at 16.0% according to the Fulton County 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and 2020 Annual Action Plan (2020).
Several strategies have been put forth to help alleviate poverty in Fulton County. Some of these strategies include the idea of different housing types (to accommodate people with different income levels) and the training of individuals to help meet labor demands by businesses (Fulton County 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and 2020 Annual Action Plan, 2020). The Fulton County government also indicates that it offers the service of “aging in place with respect, quality, and dignity” (2021). By doing the above, the Fulton government ensures that the aging population gets to enjoy their old days comfortably and safely regardless of their income.
However, the above strategies are not enough to help alleviate the poverty issue in Fulton County.
