4-1 question What are physiological effects of benzodiazepine use? How can these lead to addiction?
Lakiter The effects of Benzodiazepine can vary. It is often used to treat anxiety among other things. When an individual uses these drugs it can lead to mood swings as well as the person becoming very relaxed. It can lead to addiction because in some cases, individuals often used other drugs with the prescribed drug. An example of this would be; I once had a student that was prescribed Xanax and he was doing well until one of his "friends" began to tell him how to get his medication to make him feel even better. He began using Marijuana everyday in conjunction to his medication. He liked the way it made him feel and he became addicted so much that when all of his Xanax was gone he would then try to go and purchase it from undesirables. The addiction became so strong that he had to be placed into a facility. The medication was prescribed for the right reason, however; it was used for purposes that was not intended.

The physiological effects highlighted by Christina are appropriate because benzodiazepine causes mood swing and short-term memory loss, depression and hallucination. Some of the physiological changes are caused by sudden release of histamine in the bloodstream includes itching of the entire body and reddening of the eyes. Benzodiazepine is addictive when used for longer periods. It is true that psychoactive drugs have the ability to relieve pain at the same time enslave our minds because they are narcotic and causes dreamlike effects.
4-2. I agree with Jeannine that oxycodone, hydrocodone, and codeine are commonly prescribed. Opiate addiction is one of the biggest challenges facing America (Volkow...
