Multiple concepts are used to understand various cultures to establish how people from different backgrounds live. An excellent example of such terms is gender, which represents the characteristics of men, women, boys, and girls, as constructed socially. Being an Asian female has made me a unique Asian resident. I have experienced difficulties in making multiple achievements throughout my growth journey, especially in my education period. I found it hard to attain good results early because of the competition posed by my male classmates.
The central leadership positions belong to men, making females inferior in society. As I grew up, I learned that my roles mainly entailed social aspects like taking care of the family and ensuring my brothers remained comfortable. In family investments, males play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the proper management of resources. Despite being an entrepreneur, I have rarely been granted a chance to showcase my skills in business. Instead, I am used to following what my brothers decide in business. The situation led to my decision to take a course related to social sciences despite being a business fan. Furthermore, during decision-making, especially in the family, males receive a greater priority while females have to follow the decisions. Thus, my relationship with gender is discouraging because I strongly believe women are not inferior to males.
The political implications of the above relation to gender include low schooling rates for women in Asia. The government hardly considers female education as equally important as that of men. Besides, since many administrators are males, policymaking is likely biased. Most of the regulations favor males because they dominate most societal departments. However, with increased awareness of human rights, females continue receiving priorities in multiple aspects, like leadership positions. The other aspect comprises an increase in the pay gap between males and females. The situation emanates from the fact that the former are more educated than the latter. Thus, males acquire better and high-paying positions in government agencies.
