Essay Instructions:

Choose one of the two options and write an essay.
Courses — 2020SU-Art History Pre —Module

Please select from one of the following 2 options to write a short essay. Essays must meet a minimum of 250-350 words. You are welcome to go over the word count if needed (though it is not expected!), but should not be under the minimum word count. Make sure to read the Essay Etiquette guide prior to writing this assignment for the "do's" and "don'ts" of essay writing in this course.

If you are paraphrasing from the textbook, make sure to use a citation at the end of the sentence, ex. (Kleiner, p. - ). Paraphrasing is fine, but do not quote directly from the textbook. This essay is about your observations and knowledge gained from the lectures and readings and is designed to help prepare you for comparisons on the final exam.
These essays are analytical and critical responses. You should not say "I" or give opinions that in Module 1 alone you are learning approximately 3 weeks of material in one week.

Make sure you leave yourself enough time to take thorough notes on the lecture and submit a well analyzed essay. These count more towards your grades than you think!Just one other quick note: I've realized that Question #5 on the quiz is a mistake. This question was supposed to be on the Module 2 quiz, not the Module 1 quiz. You don't yet have the information to answer it properly, so for all of those who get that quiz question wrong, I will add the 1.5 points from that question onto your overall quiz grade.
It's a throwaway question now, so don't worry about trying to answer it correctly or not. Questions 1-4 and 6 do come directly from the Module 1 lectures.
Best,
Jessica

The works of art in the Minoan culture was used for aesthetic purposes. In some instances, the technique was used as a representation of politics and other secular events of the time.
