Many states in the US still allow corporal punishment as a way of instilling discipline on the students. It is a violation of children’s right and an ineffective way to discipline children. It sends the wrong message to the kids which is in part that adults can harm defenseless children often for minor mistakes they commit.
The articles seem to call for action against the state, schools and individuals who directly or indirectly support institutionalized violence on kids. The authors firmly assert the dangers of corporal punishment on children because there is sufficient evidence to prove that it is not effective and it is a violation of children’s rights.
Some authors use value laden phrases and words which brings out their own personal opinions on the issue.
