Effective Environmental Action 
This activity will enable you to: •Identify social arrangements interpreted as unjust and articulate the implications for social policy and action. (Sociology Major Outcome #4)
•Analyze significant economic questions according to the standards of the discipline in at least three broad subfields of economics, such as applied microeconomics, global and macroeconomics, econometrics and finance. (Economics Outcome #3)
Before beginning the discussion, please read AT LEAST ONE of the following five case studies of environmental activism, both successful and unsuccessful. All these articles are available in full-text and free of charge in the Excelsior Online Library:

Answer the following question: •Lora-Wainwright et al (2012), Stein (2012), Biviano (2012), Mueller (2012), and Holden (2012) describe five different possible responses to the inter-related global problems of energy production and climate change the world faces today: fatalism and resignation (Wainwright et. al.), large-scale renewable energy production by private enterprise with the support of environmentalists (2012), grassroots religious conservation movements (Biviano), international, NGO-based grassroots organizing (Mueller), and organized lobbying by global churches such as the Vatican (Holden).
Describe in detail the approach you chose to learn about. Is it proving effective in the stated goal of slowing climate change? If so, how? If not, why not? Given what you’ve learned from these articles, what could be done in general, both here in the US and abroad, to make environmental action more effective?
