The United States has long been a global superpower, economically, politically, and even in terms of military capacity. Its supremacy has long been recognized, and many other countries attempt to counteract this superpower. One of these countries is China, resulting in the two nations’ conflict. The actions of the leaders of these nations can be analyzed through the lens of the Power Theory.
Recently, China has expanded its military power in the Indo-Pacific region and claimed authority over other countries through ballooning alliances with the Southeast Asian countries. This enhanced China’s power and jurisdiction over international businesses, improving its security as a nation and making it a competition in terms of power. Due to this, the United States conflicted with China as it has become its international competition in terms of partnerships and alliances. Current U.S. president, Biden, refused to roll back trade tariffs and sanctions for China. Moreover, the U.S. supported the claims of the other countries other than China that ruled the South China Sea and facilitated the mobilization of other countries against China (Ero & Atwood, 2021).
