Conflict: Ukraine Versus Russia
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine dates back to 2014 but has recently spawned a fire between the two countries due to the former’s claim that the latter remains a threat to its country. Currently, the Russian government invaded the Ukrainian peninsula and aimed to subjugate the central government at the country’s capital. The recent events claimed the lives of many innocent civilians and forced the Ukrainian government to utilize all of its resources to fight the highly militarized Russian troops and suffered losses (Kirby, 2022). Likewise, Russia also suffered losses, including many lives of its troops, which were around 14,000 casualties and 21,000 were injured (Cooper et al., 2022). The conflict between the two countries heavily affected both parties, including all the other countries nationwide, as the conflict had negative political and economic consequences.
First, the political consequences of the conflict forced the countries to form alliances, including the international organizations, to ensure that the peace process would be rendered and that the casualties, infrastructural, and economic damages would be minimized (Mohapatra, 2022). Second, the economic consequences resulted in skyrocketing gas and oil prices. The disruption in the export of titanium, palladium, and corn was hampered, resulting in the lack of supply and an increase in the prices of the said goods (Juanino & Millard, 2022).
