Ethical principles can be defined as the criteria upon which to base the judgements in connection to the ethical theories (Elder et al, 2006). This includes the principle of risk aversion which dictates that take an action that produces list harm, the golden rule that instructs individuals to do to others as they would expect action to be done to us and the utilitarian principle that states that an action is only considered to be good if it produces great happiness to great number of people. The right to die means asserting the right to decline extraordinary medical measures to extend one's life when one is fatally ill. Like in the case of the 7 year old child who had lymphoblastic leukemia which is a disease that can't be cured. The mother felt hopeless about the chances of the son living for long. She opted that she wanted to discharge her son from the inpatient unit.
