Instructions: As a Communications Coordinator, it is important to understand the kinds of data you use to provide evidence to your claims. Different kinds of audiences prefer different kinds of data. While you were developing your agenda in this week’s discussion, did you notice if your Board was filled with technical scientists, lawyers, field scientists, administrators, financial experts, or humanitarians? Each of these groups of people may respond to the data differently based on what kind of data you present.
Dig into your research to find examples of 2 different studies from scholarly journals that relate broadly to your chosen organization. You have a lot of latitude here in the choice of information you present. Determine which methodology each study uses. Some studies may not highlight this information clearly and you will need to make inferences. Identify the key characteristics of the methodologies from the readings and your research. What audience might each methodology be used to inform? What methodology would you use to inform your Board and why?
