Response Paper 2 Topic: Abortion The goal of your Response Paper is to either: 1. Critique the reading or; 2. Defend the reading from a critique. Critiquing the reading involves finding something about the reading that you think is incorrect or not entirely accurate and explaining why it is incorrect or not entirely accurate, along with providing the implications of that incorrectness or inaccuracy. Defending the reading from a critique means that there is a popular or existing critique of the reading that you think is misguided, unfair, or otherwise incorrect. Your job in this case is to explain why that critique is misguided, unfair, or otherwise wrong, and defend the author’s position. Do not include any summary of the philosopher’s article. Focus solely on your own, individual, original thought and argumentation. Word Count There is a maximum word count of 500 words for each Argument Summary. A good rule of thumb is not to be under or over by more than 10% of the stated word count. I will stop reading after 10% over the stated word count has been reached. Footnotes are not permitted. Citations Citations are necessary for this assignment, even if you only use the textbook. When citing the textbook, use the format (Author Last Name, page #). So if I were referencing Lukianoff and Haidt’s reading on page 183, my in-text citation would be (Lukianoff and Haidt, 183). You would then use APA format to create a proper bibliographic entry. Use APA Citation Format Outside sources are not required or expected for this assignment and they may not earn you higher marks. They might actually decrease your mark. However, if you are determined to use outside sources, you must cite in APA format.
