In 750 words writer a reflection of your application/practice session from Topic 6. In your reflection:

1. Explain the questioning strategy you used to determine the goals of your client.
2. Describe some of the challenges you faced In the application of the skills learned, Include how you overcame the challenges for the betterment of your dlent.
3. Discuss your client’s reaction to their road map, Include any questions they may have had and how you handled those questions.
4. Describe what resources would you recommend to the dlent and why would you recommend those specific resources.
5. Identify how you would continue to guide the client through any Issues/setbacks.

Questioning strategy client’s goals
Asking the right questions is essential to determine the client’s goals and there was focus on determining what the client wants and how the situation caused frustration of doing what he did not desire to do in life. In coaching and counseling, these questions emphasize self-monitoring and there are follow-up questions, which help to determine where there are changes, improvements and differences. This strategy is more effective when the coach has a better understanding of the client’s feelings and perceptions since there is clarity on what ought to be achieved.
Evaluating possibilities helps solve problems creatively and there is evaluation of the next course of actions depending on the scenarios. Additionally, the client focuses in the future possibilities where goals are achieved besides problem solving. When the client focuses on getting the best from his or her situation there is likely a more positive attitude, and conversations in a constructive direction as well as a positive professional coach/ client relationship. There are different situations that influence ability to reach the client’s goals and questioning helps to determine this.
Challenges in the application of skills learned
Pessimism whether coaching intervention will work, is one of the challenges to applying my skills, and clients are resistant to change when they are skeptical about the effectiveness coaching. When I encounter such clients, one of the first things to do is to focus on making change and highlighting that change is possible. I approach each client with an open mind, which helps to ensure that there is no misunderstanding on what the client wants to achieve. The client is also more open to making changes when they trust the coach and more likely to believe that coaching is effective.
Another challenge is difficulty for the clients to adjust during the coaching process since change is required to meet their goals and they may deal with a new coach. Successful coaching requires careful planning and improving the coach/ client relationship, reduces resistance to the coach’s efforts (Grant, 2013). Clients have accepted changes more openly when there is reassurance and support. As the client accepted the need for adjustment it was easier to apply my skills working together with a willing client.
