Introduction
The mysterious deaths of migrants at the US borders are a major cause for alarm and have been declared a humanitarian crisis. When 11 migrants in Iowa and 19 workers in Texas were found dead within the borders in one year, attention was then drawn to this issue, causing nationwide concern. Despite the mortality numbers steadily decreasing over the years, the numbers remain alarmingly high, and as a result, methods to curb the deaths have been devised.
The US Border Patrol has taken up some measures to address this calamity, such as implementing the Border Safety Initiative (BSI), which was formed with the idea of mitigating the risks of crossing the perilous southwest border (Haddal, 2010). The initiative was divided into four main components: prevention, search and rescue, identification, and finally, tracking and recording. In addition, the Border Patrol created Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) teams as a vital part of the BSI. The main objective of the units is to offer swift intervention for migrants who may be distressed along the border. These measures, however, have had an opposite effect than for which they were created, and the country has reported even higher numbers of migrant deaths since their implementation. Therefore, more has to be done to prevent further deaths, and some recommendations are listed below.

Several reasons necessitate migrants coming into the country, but the biggest reason is work. Every year, thousands of immigrants stream into the country searching for a source of employment, using both legal and illegal ways to achieve this.
