According to Catholicism, the mechanism by which Catholics are saved is through baptism. Baptism is a process that brings people near Christ, who has said that he is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (Jn 14:6). Therefore, one has to be baptized before he can be saved and get nearer to God. Other Christians are also saved, and it is important to note that Catholicism does not oppose other religions (Austin, 2014). Catholics usually support everything that is true and good from other religions since the freedom of religion is one of the basic human rights.
