After 9/11, many Sikhs were persecuted by people in America who mistook them for Muslims, as Sikh men wear turbans and have "Middle Eastern" looks. In August 2012, seven people were shot and killed at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, because the killer mistook them for Muslims. At the same time, adherents like Sheena Khandari are having to rethink their outward expressions of faith.
Examine the five Ks of Sikhism. These are the ultimate expressions of faith in Sikhism.
-Which of the five Ks intrigues you the most? Why?

According to the Sikh tradition, Sikhism was established between 1469 and 1539 by Guru Nanak. It is a religion and philosophy that originated from the Punjab region of India. As symbols of identification, Sikhs wear five everyday things that begin with K; hence, the five Ks of Sikhism. They include Kesh (uncut hair), Kara (iron bracelet), Kanga (wooden comb), Kirpan (iron dagger), and Kachera (cotton underpants) (Pluralism, 2018). These symbols enhance the strength of the bond among community members, with each K having a particular significance. These Ks are the ultimate expressions of faith in Sikhism.
