This is due to the manner in which this type of schooling approaches life and the individual at large. It seeks to develop the individual as a person while at the same time trying to make the person a productive member of society. As a result, a liberal arts graduate is a multipurpose member of the community.  Compared to other types of education that train an individual to fit in a specific career in the market, liberal arts education prepares the individual on how to live and navigate challenges in any profession that one fits in. The training that I receive from this education will help me stand out to challenge the world views that I hold and become a productive member of society.
One of the notions in the world today is that one can only be successful in given field if the person has been trained in that field. In today’s market, companies are facing competition, and others are closing down, rendering thousands of people jobless. It is stressful to lose employment, but it is more stressful for one to be turned down in an employment vacancy due to a lack of necessary skills that one requires to perform a given task. I have always thought that the best job that one can ever get is the one that guarantees a better salary.
