This was a retrospective secondary analysis of data to evaluate hospital work environment and nurse burnout, job satisfaction. Nearly 9,690 nurses from 181 Chinese hospitals were encouraged to get their responses recorded. Many of the respondents reported a moderate level of emotional exhaustion and depression and a high level of reduced personal accomplishment. There 10,221 nurse questionnaires were distributed, where 9,959 (97.40%) were returned, and while 9,698 (94.88%) completed valid surveys (Zhang, et al., 2014). The study findings highlighted that the work environment is positively related to job satisfaction and nurse retention depends on the nursing work environment and staffing levels. The researchers used the China Hospital Nurse Survey that was translated into English and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to measure nurse burnout and Internal consistency was measured using Cronbach . China is serious nursing shortage, which is likely to worsen and increase worse high pressure, and coupled with insufficient nurse staffing and resources this affects the work environment negatively. The contract nurses reported their intentions to leave their jobs at a higher turnover rate, and this is a concern.
