People with Type A personalities are characterized by an intense drive for personal achievement, competitiveness, striving for recognition, and a sense of time urgency, provokable behavior, and increased aggression. These people are usually acting on their personal urgency to make their time productive according to society’s rules and expectations which they have adapted for themselves. Friedman, the pioneer of this concept, described Type A behavior pattern as an action-emotion complex. This meant that the people with type A personalities are driven, sometimes in excess, by their self-impositions.
