Schunk and DiBenedetto’s (2020) article thesis is anchored on discussing motivation from Bandura’s social cognitive theory perspective. Motivation herein describes the processes that initiate and sustain goal-driven activities. Within this conceptualization, motivation includes personal (internal) processes overtly manifested in goal-driven actions. Accordingly, the authors employed a qualitative research approach to delineate reciprocal interactions’ conceptual framework and summarize research on motivation’s environmental, personal, and behavioral impacts. The article is not an empirical paper since it did not report findings derived from experimentation or actual observation. The authors concluded that social cognitive theory had been intimately linked to motivation since its inception. The theory emphasizes certain motivational variables that have been excessively tested within research, and its theoretical predictions are significantly supported.
