Vision and Psychology. Describe the three psychological dimensions of vision.
Part I: Describe the three psychological dimensions of vision.
For Part II: of the written assignment, explain why the following course objectives are important to understanding psychology:
5. Define circadian rhythms and explain how the body’s “biological clock” works and what happens when it doesn’t.
6. Distinguish between the basic processes of sensation and perception, explain how the doctrine of specific nerve energies applies to perception, and discuss how synesthesia contributes to our understanding of sensory modalities.
7. Describe the basic principles of classical conditioning, including the extinction and recovery of a classically conditioned response, how higher-order conditioning takes place, and the process of stimulus generalization and discrimination.
8. Compare social norms and social roles, and note how each contributes to the social rules that govern a culture.
Please reference and include at least three scholarly articles within your response. The minimum word count should be 750 words. Overall response should be formatted according to APA style, with the total assignment three , pages not including title page and reference page.

The relationship between vision and psychology involves perception. Perception results from the action of several thousands of feature detector neurons with each performing a specialized role (Stangor & Walinga, 2020). The dimensions of vision in psychology are;
Perception of color
The human eye can detect seven million color variations derived from the combination of the primary colors. The color information is relayed by the light wavelength entering the eye, and the wave intensity detects brightness. According to Trichromatic theory, there exist cones in the retina that react to the primary colors to perceive color (Stangor & Walinga, 2020). The opponent theory suggests that some cells are attracted to one opponent color and inhibited by another, and this explains why the eye might perceive specific images in the absence of the stimulus.
Perception of Depth
The depth perspective involves the visual ability to interprate three-dimensional space and appropriately make a judgment on measurements. Our ability to interprate depth depends on the Binocular depth signal by retinal image disparity and the ability of our bodies to give cues about space and distance. Each eye views objects differently, and the cortex merges the two images to perceive it as a unit form (Glezer, 2013).
Perception of Motion
Humans exhibit skills that guide their motion and coordinates with the motion of moving objects to enable collision with the object. The brain translates motion by establishing the changes in the size of an object in focus, where the more enormous the size, the closer the object, and vice versa. Moreover, motion is also perceived when close objects experience changes in appearance since the visual cortex assumes the missing part and objects are seen to be moving. However, it is possible to perceive motion when close objects appear and disappear consecutively.
Circadian rhythms are behavioral and psychological adaptations that have a daily pattern. These rhythms have responsiveness to darkness and light in the human environment. The biological clock, is a person’s timing element comprising of protein molecules interacting in body cells (Cassone & Kumar, 2015). Biological clocks regulate human behavior as it adapts across the 24-hour daily cycle. Circadian rhythms interact with the biological clock to regulate the functionality of the body. These rhythms result in neurobehavioral performance and sleepiness. Lack of these regulatory processes may lead to low productivity and a lack of alertness.
Sensation involves the collecting information by the senses and sending them to the brain. In contrast, perception involves the interpretation of what is taken in through the senses (“Sensation in Psychology 101 at A...
