Research Articles in an Electronic Academic Library

Essay Instructions:

It is important to learn and practice how to find research articles in an electronic academic library. In the library, conduct a search in the Advanced Search mode in the EBSCO Discovery Service by following the steps below:
Click on the following: EBSCO Library Search
In Search Options, scroll down to the “Limit your results” area and be sure that “Full Text” and “Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals” are both checked for each search you do.
Enter a search term for a psychological topic of interest to you (autism) and add “research study” to the end of your search term in the following location.
For example, if I chose to look for articles about “emotional intelligence,” I would type “emotional intelligence research study” as my search term. This helps to ensure that your search yields research articles instead of review papers or commentaries.
From the search results, choose one research article to focus on for this week’s discussion board.
Using the information from the research article, please respond to the following:
What information in the research article lets you know that it is a research article and not a different type of article, such as a literature review, commentary, or meta-analysis?
Who were the participants/subjects in the article?
What did the researchers ask participants/subjects to do for the study?
What were the main findings of the study?
What did you like, or not like, about this research study?

The participants were 134 parents of school-aged kids with ASD for the first phase of data collection, which involved an online questionnaire. 98.5% of the parents were mothers. For the second phase, nine parents were the participants. The majority of the participants resided in Australia.
For the online questionnaire, the participa...
