Socialization helps us build our consciousness of the society surrounding us. It was defined as the act of learning the norms and ideology of the society that a person lives. Others defined it as a way of behavior acceptable by the society he lives in. We, as humans, have the instinct to interact with others. We often hang out with people who have the same vibe as us because we can feel a sense of belongingness when we are with them. A personal environment can play a significant role in shaping his/her perspective of the world. Teaching how to socialize with other races is essential because it acquaints individuals with the culture of a particular society or social group. In this article, the author will describe how he acquired his socialization skills and the other factor that helps him improve them.
Socialization
A person who knows how diverse culture and races are is expected to be good at socializing because he/she has a comprehensive point of view, thus making his/her respect other culture and race. At the time, I was still young. I do not know about races and culture. I recognize children with the same appearance as me, as a fellow humans. Until I became older, I realized that people have their own unique culture that has been passed down for generations. In school, norms from around the world are taught to us by our parents and teachers and always telling us to respect other cultures. This has been imprinted on my mind, and until now, I still practice this kind of behavior where I do not judge other people's social norms or cultures. It is said that early education for a child is the best because it can significantly help their social interaction with others and having a behavior that is acceptable to society.
As stated by Lumen (n.d.), there are three goals of socialization first socialization helps individual to conscience to develop as they grow up, they gather expectation around the that will eventually build their conscience, second socialization is essential for the individual social role, gender role, occupational role and role in institution and lastly socialization tend to make people think of what is being valued in a particular culture.
