In the United States (US), One out of five women will be raped at one point in their lives. Additionally, one out of seventy-one men will be raped and abused at one point in their lives (Cohen & Zhukov, 2018). Crime statistics show that rape and sexual victimization is among the most under-reported crimes. There exists false reporting of rape cases, whose prevalence stands at two to ten percent (Aroustamian, 2020). Sexual victimization and rape cases remain colossal trouble, especially for children.
Most often, rape offenses are done by close people who are close and easily identified (Cohen & Zhukov, 2018). The rape cases reported on girl children usually lead to their fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, house managers, male teachers, and other close males as the culprits. Rarely do strangers get reported in rape and sexual victimization offenses (Aroustamian, 2020). The primary reason behind this must be how the close males live right next to the girl child or boy child. Due to some psychological issues, they feel like they have access to these children to fulfill their urgent sexual desires. They can also threaten the children and keep them under their noses to control their reaction to the victimization (Cohen & Zhukov, 2018).
There are shocking cases where fathers have been found guilty of sexually victimizing and raping their young girls for so long.
