The diet in the US had improved between 1999 to 2000. This is due to increased intake of fish, whole grains, nuts, and groceries. Sugar processed foods and red meat intake were reduced, thus a healthy nation. From 2003 to 2007 there was an increase in nutrition levels as intake of low-quality food products was reduced thus healthier diet in schools. Recent data depicts that people prefer fast foods to cook at home; hence adults and kids have a poor-quality diet.
The world health organization estimated almost 80% of children in developing countries have insufficient nutrition. The deficiency of proteins and iron is the most common (Northup, 2014). The ones in developed overeat unhealthy foods with high fat and sugar, resulting in increased obesity.
