Judith H. Langlois, Lori A. Roggman, and Loretta A.Rieser-Danner from University of Texas at Austin wrote the study Infants' differential social responses to attractive and unattractive faces. They conducted two studies to observe infants social responses to both attractive and unattractive faces. In the first observation, they used 12 month-old babies who interacted with a stranger. The stranger had to wear professionally constructed attractive and unattractive masks (Langlois, Roggman, & Rieser-Danner, 1990). True to Langlois findings, the babies displayed more positivity and less withdrawal when the stranger wore the attractive mask. In study 2 the infant amused themselves with the attractive doll and unattractive doll. Sixty babies at the age of one year were used to conduct this research.
