• People in the US are frequently split into groups, such as being a member of a dominant vs. minority group. The question of interest, though, is how and why people are divided into such groups and whether or not they themselves identify as being members of those respective groups. In your opinion, what role, if any, may these distinctions serve?
• Of the methodological issues surrounding culturally appropriate research, which do you find to be most problematic and why?

CH. 1 INTRODUCTION TO ETHNIC MINORITY PSYCHOLOGY
One of the most defining features about the US is its rich ethnic and cultural diversity. Multiculturalism, however, is a complex and, often times, misunderstood concept.
CH. 2 RACE, ETHNICITY, AND CULTURE
Race and ethnicity are terms often used interchangeably, but in actuality carry different connotations. The two terms, however, are related when we examine shared and unshared dimensions of culture among varying groups of people.
CH. 3 METHODOLOGICAL ISSUEConducting culturally appropriate research includes at least four key components: using appropriate methods, communicating across racial/ethnic groups, properly recruiting and identifying participants, and correct data analytic plans.
