Girls and boys are social beings in equal measure. However, between the age of 13-16, girls are considered the most socially adept compared to boys. Unlike boys, girls tend to share every aspect of change in their lives and need to stay in touch with their friends. However, this friendship differs in quality. This is mostly influenced by the speed of development, changes in the bodies, mood swings, and emotional motivation. This paper seeks to explore how friendship quality differs between girls and boys during adolescence.
According to Psychologists, girls' developmental phase is characterized by massive changes that trigger the need to share with their friends. Through these girls to establish solid friendships that grow steadily between the age of 13-16, the quality of friendship drops between the age of 14 -19. The rapid changes in their body characterize this. It becomes hugely overwhelmed by the significant changes taking place in their body, and it becomes even harder to relate and share with their peers due to fear of judgment. As they continue growing to develop, their growth curve represents a steady decrease in friendship. The rate of development amongst girls differs significantly, thus deepening the disconnect between their friendship quality. One may not be able to understand or relate to what her peer is going through. As a result, it may cause one to feel unloved, unwanted, and unworthy of the friendship.
