Have you or has someone you know ever been the victim of cyberbullying?
My aunt used to have a friend who killed herself a few years back. She was young and had two daughters. The lady had a tumultuous relationship with the father of her children. The two were separated, and the husband used to visit the family from time to time. However, after a few visits, the lady started noticing that the youngest daughter was acting indifferent around her father. She never wanted to be left alone with him, and she always cried when the mother left them with their father. After conducting her investigation, she realized that her husband was molesting their daughter. She confided in some of her friends, including my aunt, who advised her to report the matter to the police. She did report the issue, but the police informed her that they could not act without any evidence.
When her husband came for his usual visits, she refused to let him into the house. He left only to start stalking and issuing threats to her on social media. He would post damning things about her and share embarrassing pictures and information about her. This went on for a while until he started sending death threats using pseudo accounts. He spoke ill about her to her friends while also revealing her secrets to them. All this happened on social media. She tried to change her accounts, but he somehow found a way to the new accounts as well. This went on for a few months, and when she could not take it anymore, she killed herself. She wrote a long letter explaining her actions and detailing her mental anguish and the helplessness she felt.
