Every Child's Behavior Has A Reason
Every child's behavior has a reason. There is a reason why a child acts nicely, and there is also a reason why a child behaves rudely. However, a misbehaving child at school can be frustrating for teachers and parents; therefore, teachers and parents must understand the causes of the child’s actions to know how to respond. This paper examines Essie’s case and offers suggestions for how to deal with her behaviors.
Essie is a kindergarten student who exhibits disruptive behavior in class. Her actions are aggressive when she does not receive the attention she desires or does not want to complete a task. Essie’s actions may be classified as attention-seeking and escape behaviors. Essie’s attention-seeking behavior is triggered when her teacher does not prioritize her, or her classmates do not interact with her. Meanwhile, her escape behavior is triggered whenever the teacher introduces a task or asks for her participation (Kids Ability, n.d.). Hence, Essie misbehaves since she does not receive enough attention and avoids tasks.
