After analyzing the workforce key strengths and weaknesses, human resource managers should consider setting up systems that allow a proper balance of the professional life and personal lives of their employees (Jang, 2016). Therefore, this report primarily focuses on providing suitable recommendations for work-life balance for Berry Sweets, highlighting the rationale for the recommendations, giving an insight on competitor firms practising the same recommendations and providing an in-depth analysis of the cost, legal and ethical considerations of each of the recommendations.
Recommended Work-Life Balance Approaches
Flexibility Work Schedules
It is recommendable that Berry Sweets provide its employees with flexible work hours. Flexibility in the employees' work schedules will enable the employees to take good care of their personal endeavours and will consequently be in a proper mental state to be highly productive (Jang, 2016). The human resource manager at Berry Sweets should hence focus on increasing flexibility in work schedules by providing either work from home system, a part-time work approach and shift based working approach.

Berry Sweets' human resource management should ensure they allow their employees to take up their annual leaves to ensure they can rest and have quality time with their friends and family (Jang, 2016). This will help ensure the employees maintain the right state for working when they return to work since they will have rested well. Berry Sweets should hence encourage their employees to take up all their annual leave days and guarantee the payment of an equal salary during their leave days and job security after the leave days elapse.
Technologically Integrated Work Systems
The management at Berry Sweets should focus on ensuring they set up the right technologies to aid the employees in conducting their day-to-day activities at work. Highly advanced technologies guarantee effective and efficient business processes (Jang, 2016). This consequently helps ensure the employees work without any distress and do not have to carry any work at home, giving them a proper balance between their work life and personal lives.
The rationale of the Proposed Recommendations
The rationale behind recommending flexible work schedules is based on the fact that flexibility allows employees to have more free time to spend with family and friends and undertake their personal endeavours, which consequently helps in increasing productivity when they are at work since they got time to relax (Kossek et al., 2015).
Mandatory annual leaves are informed by the rationale that every worker needs time to relax. Equally, numerous research studies have shown that employees who take annual leaves are more productive and happier than those who push forward their leave days (Harvey & Tremblay, 2020).
