Understanding the Relationship between One’s Behavior

Essay Instructions:

Think about an experience you had where you felt extremely motivated. In a 3- to 4-page paper, analyze this experience according to the experiential format below. Each subtitle represents a different section of the paper. You can use the subtitles as headings.
Introduction: Discuss the topic of the paper and how you will approach it. It is best to write this section after you have written the rest of the paper.
The Experience: Begin with a specific situation/event. Describe the experience where you felt extremely motivated. Be objective and focus on just the facts: who, what, where, when, and how.
Reflection: Reflect upon that experience from the multiple perspectives of other people involved or affected in the experience. Step back from the situation, look at the experience from your own viewpoint, and the viewpoints of other parties involved or affected. Look at the circumstances surrounding the experience from every relevant perspective. Why was the experience motivating to you? What did others do that increased your motivation? Was the situation (or would the situation) also be motivating to others? (Note: Your discussion of theories and models from your module materials belongs in the following section.)
Abstract Conceptualization: [Important: This Abstract Conceptualization section is the “heart” of your paper. Use critical thinking skills to understand and interpret the experience at a deeper, more generalizable level. Interpret and understand the events you have described by drawing on the concepts, theories, and models in the background material from this module. What behavior patterns can you identify in yourself and others that are similar to the ones described in the material on motivation, values, and/or goals? How do these concepts and principles explain why you were motivated? What general principles of motivation can you derive from this analysis? Apply at least three concepts, theories, and/or models and cite all references to concepts and ideas that you use from sources. Be sure to cite all references to concepts, ideas, and quotes you use that come from any outside source.
Experimentation: Identify ways to respond to the next occurrence of a similar experience. How are you going to put what you have learned to use? How will you use this knowledge to motivate yourself and others? What actions will you take to create a work environment that is motivating?
Conclusion: Sum up the main points of your analysis and the key learnings you are taking from it.
Reference List: List all references that you have cited in the paper using APA formatting. References include materials from the required background readings as well as any outside Internet or library sources you used in researching and writing your paper. If you have APA questions, refer to the optional listings on the Background page.
My motivation experience:
I’m a active duty member in the Air Force. Every year they do a EPR- Enlisted Performance Report, to see if the individual is ready to rank to the next level. EPR are based on 1-5 score (1-the lowest which means don’t promote and 5 the highest meaning promote now). I received a 5 score (promote now) which gives an extra 50 bonus points for the actual written test. The 5 or promote now score is only awarded to 1 person per squadron or group level. That motivated me to study really hard for my test to assure a passing score. Because if I didn’t pass it this year, I would lose the 50 points for next year test. Outcome: I passed my test by 65points achieving the next ranking level. Everybody in my office motivated and supported the process of written the EPR, getting selected to get a 5 (promote now), the study time and the actual test date/score release day.

Understanding the relationship between one’s behavior and the circumstances surrounding the same is important for anyone. It allows him to have a better grasp about how to use his strengths and characteristics to improve his learning capabilities. Accordingly, in this article, I would discuss how I was able to manage my own behavior in order to achieve my goal of passing the Enlisted Performance Report (EPR). This includes, the internal and external stimuli that helped me maintain my motivation towards achieving this goal. All in all, I believe that understanding one’s capabilities and characteristics is essential to reach one’s goals in life. Without knowing oneself, there is a higher risk that we would not be able to maximize our own potentials.
The Enlisted Performance Report
One of my most memorable and recent experiences in life was during the time when I was studying for my performance report. I am currently an active-duty member in the United States Air Force, and one of the yearly evaluations that we usually do is called an Enlisted Performance Report. The Enlisted Performance Report (EPR) is employed by the United States Air Force in order to ensure that their members are both physically, mentally, and emotionally fit, among others, and helps the officers to provide meaningful feedback about how an enlisted member can improve in the performance of their functions CITATION Air21 \l 1033 (Air Force's Personnel Center, 2021). The evaluation criteria is based on a score of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), with the latter giving the highest chance of the personnel being promoted.
Since the score of five (5) is only given to a single personnel per squadron, I pushed myself to study very hard, not only for me to get a passing score, but to also make sure that I do not lose 50 points in the next-year’s evaluation. During the process, nonetheless, I utilized various methods to balance my discipline and motivation. On the one hand, I made sure that I keep a constant check about how much time I am dedicating to my studies. On the other hand, I also made sure that I balance my interaction with my peers and receive any constructive feedback from them to keep me motivated at all time...
