The benefit of a tall organizational structure is its command structure that displays a transparent chain of command. Therefore, employees can better understand the decision-making strategies, the differentiation of employee responsibilities and the distribution of promotions according to the structure.
On the other hand, the disadvantage of this structure is the bureaucracy involved due to a large number of top-level managers. In such cases, decisions lag hence making lower-level employees unable to get responses swiftly. Furthermore, the structure also creates a disparity between managers and lower-level employees, thus causing a decrease in their motivation levels and morale as they work in the organization.

The advantage of a flat organizational structure is the ability of all employees to be involved in the decision-making processes, thus providing incentives for continued success.
