Plagiarism is academic dishonesty which refers to a practice of copying excerpts or ideas from someone else's work and pass it off as one's work. There are four distinct types of plagiarism that include:
Direct: It involves copying original work as it is without using quotation marks and present it deliberately self-creation (Williams & Davis, 2017).
Self-plagiarism: It involves presenting a work previously done by a student as a fresh creation (Williams & Davis, 2017).
Mosaic: This type of plagiarism occurs when a student spins someone else's work to show it off as their work by borrowing phrasing or altering structure.
Accidental: It is the mildest type that occurs either in the event of a student's forgetting to cite resources or misquoting the citations or references (Pears & Shields, 2019).
