I took the Working Globally Across Cultures and the UK quizzes. I was very surprised by the scores. I thought I was pretty culturally aware, but the quiz results have proved that I need to improve. I believe that I have several strengths in intercultural awareness. The first strength is that I respect diverse cultures. Evidence has shown that for a person to have the ability to work with diverse cultures, it is important to respect other cultures (Amerson, 2018). The second strength that I have in intercultural awareness is that I am a data-driven person. When making a decision, a leader should think about the consequences of the decision from multiple perspectives, including how it will affect people from different cultural backgrounds. This way, the leader is more culturally aware. The third strength that I have in cultural awareness is that I am a learner. I appreciate that I do not know everything and am always ready to learn. The ability to learn concepts of new cultures is a great key to becoming more culturally aware. For instance, the quiz was an opportunity to learn.
There are two main weaknesses that I am able to identify concerning cultural awareness. First, I think I have not done a lot to study cultures that are outside my home country. As evidenced by the Working Globally Across Cultures quiz results, I need to do more to learn about global cultures. Secondly, I noticed that I am not very aware of the dining customs of the United Kingdom.
