Professional Communication versus Normal Communication
Professional communication refers to the formal conveyance of information in the workplace, either oral, written, or electronic. On the other hand, regular communication refers to free expressions among friends, classmates, family members, or acquaintances based on personal relationships. It is informal and without organizational rules and structure. Communication is vital in everyday undertakings such as learning and interacting with others; how we express ourselves in various situations ultimately influences our success (Kapur, 2009). Understanding professional and normal communication allows for better consensus among individuals, further building beneficial relationships, better social awareness, and increased production.
Face-to-face communication involves conversing directly with another person. Contrary, virtual communication uses technological tools, audio, and video, to reach individuals remotely. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I undertook online classes where the professor taught virtually, allowing us to engage in discussions. Among the considerations during the sessions were having a good posture, keeping calm, maintaining eye contact, and being verbally clear (Battiston et al., 2017).
