One of the concepts I learnt in this course is the differences between the use of both Medicaid and private insurance. Notably, both play an essential role in the United States (U.S.) health care system. However, both have different ways in which each of them is implemented to enhance health coverage in the U.S. Notably, the course has enabled me learn that Medicaid is a health program that is somewhat relatively cheap compared to private insurance (Sommers et al., 2016). One of the things I have learnt about these two concepts is that most people have varying views on which between Medicaid and private insurance is better. Other people are worried about whether one can have both Medicaid and private insurance at the same time. In essence, the course was essential in enabling me to learn and understand the various aspects related to Medicaid and private insurance.
The course has played a significant role in learning how both Medicaid and private insurance programs work in the U.S. healthcare system. To begin with, most people who undertake private insurance health coverage tend to be those with better incomes, while Medicaid mainly hopes to ensure that needy Americans, including children, expectant mothers, parents, seniors, and persons with disabilities are covered (Sommers et al., 2016).
