Decision making is a crucial aspect that has to be a well-crafted skill. My leadership position has put me in a focal point in delivering efficient data-driven decisions. A message has however been relayed that there is an urgent need to hasten decision making more so on new initiatives. The need to make timely and accurate decisions however, has got limitations since being data-oriented involves the consideration of huge amounts of information that call for detailed scrutiny.
To reduce the decision-making timeframe, it is important to embrace technology as a tool for processing huge amounts of data to aid in insight generation that ultimately leads to efficient decision making. Using digital, analytical software and cloud computing computer applications will reduce the time required to process data while at the same time maintaining high standards of efficiency (Pinder, 2017). The application of information technology will also aid in sourcing relevant data (which can be customer-related data, historical corporate data, market trends, competitor information, and other business-related data) required to justify and make timely decisions accurately. This varied information is stored in different locations within the organization, an aspect that slows down the decision making process. Information networking will, therefore, come in handy to ensure that various categories of information are within reach regardless of the physical location of the respective offices. However, technological advancement is faced with the challenge of high costs in the procurement of machinery and software (Pinder, 2017). It will also take some time before I get accustomed to the operations of the new machinery software.
