The formation of groups fulfills interpersonal skills such as making friends and creating feelings of solidarity among members. Every member takes responsibility for the group’s success. I belong to a group of part-time hotel employees. The development of the group was according to the group development model since it was systematically formed with a specific plan of enhancing unity and meeting strategic goals.
The group development model can improve group efficiency depending on the development stages. The stages include forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning (Stein, 2019). Forming is the initial stage of group development where each member joins and registers (Stein, 2019). In the storming stage, individuals nudge boundaries. Thus, conflicts and competition is experienced in this stage. During the norming phase, close relationships are created, leading to cohesion.
