Richard post: Must be 100 words with one source. Name post Richard post.
There are several ways that electronic health records (EHRs) have increased patient safety. For many years the healthcare industry has just been a word of mouth type of business. Before if any staff member needed to report something of concern to the next nurse they would have to wait until shift change and have to write it down. There is so much information that nurses and other staff would or could forget things. Now that there is an electronic health record of that patient, staff members can go to that electronic chart on any computer and look up or report anything about that patient needed. One this will stop medical errors since staff are not being interrupted as much and since medicines are written in the as electronic data this would stop the misunderstanding of medicine or dosages times or amount. “EHRs directly or indirectly improved patient safety by minimizing medication errors, improving documentation of data, enhancing the completeness of data, and improving the sustainability of data” (Tubaishat, 2017, para 4).
