The pressure is determined as force divided by area and was determined as 15.17 lb/in2. The liquid is similar to water, and water weighs 62.4 lb/ft 3, and the weight of the water at a repair point of 35 feet above the floor is 3857.49 lb. The area of the pipe is then determined and gives a pressure of 15.17 lb/in2.
Water Storage Tank
To choose the best-suited valve, water velocity at the bottom drain is considered at different heights of water, namely 6ft, 12 ft, 18 ft, and 24 ft. According to Torricelli’s law, velocity (v) is equal to the square root of 2gh, where g is gravity, and h is the distance (Yates, 2015). Earth’s gravity is approximately 32.2 ft/s 2, or 9.8 m/s 2. The pressure is directly proportional to the height such that at 24 ft, the pressure is highest compared to the other three distances. The velocities are represented in the table below.
