THE FTX INFLUENCE READINESS CASE IN REGARDS TO THE NCO COMMON CORE COMPETENCY (NCOCC OF OPERATIONS)
The Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) are responsible for six key competencies. These competencies include leadership, communications, readiness, training management, operations, and program management. The NCOs play a significant role in ensuring that the soldiers are ready and also a key role in unit readiness. The competencies in readiness include resiliency, financial readiness, MEDPROS, command supply discipline, army inspections, equipment maintenance, and comprehensive soldier fitness (emotional, physical, family, spiritual, and social). The NCOCC of operations also contains skills that are mastered by the NCOs, which ensures effective unified action. The development of leadership is fundamental in the army. The competency of program management goes hand in hand with readiness (NCOLCoE Bulletin No. 1-19 2, 2020). There are ways of influencing readiness in army units. The first method is for the NCOs to lead by example. The NCOs should show leadership by personal example through training and inspecting individual tasks. The NCOs can also influence readiness through mentorships and forecast programs (Association of U.S. Army, 2016). Therefore, it is the task of the NCOs to ensure that all the units and soldiers are in a good shape before they are deployed to a mission. For the two units to undertake the FTX mission, the NCOs should assess readiness across the units and manage the effective readiness-tracking program.
