Notably, the role of engineers is to use scientific principles to decipher and solve problems experienced in different situations. As such, it is paramount for IT engineers to gain skills that enable them to discover problems and, in turn, lasting solutions. According to Steward and Brown (2011), discovery training involves experimenting with different solutions to known problems in a controlled context.
