It is undoubted that effective communication is essential to the success of any organization. Managers are usually tasked with delivering not only good but also bad messages and information to employees and other stakeholders. Through responsible and effective communication and delivery of tough messages in particular, managers ensure that the messages are well and easily received (Ivancevich et al., 2011). The managers at Walmart have managed to build and grow the retail giant because they possess requisite skills that allow them to communicate accordingly under pressure and deliver tough messages. They do so by following the following steps and which I hope to emulate in my future engagements.
To begin with, Walmart managers always ensure that they are prepared and that they fully understand the message they are to deliver. They make sure that if it is a decision that they are delivering is final and as such, eliminate any back and forth.
