Leadership Effectiveness in the Team Project
The situational approach befits my understanding of leadership on various grounds. Superficially, leaders who subscribe to the situational approach understand leadership is contingent in a variety of situations (Nickerson, 2014). Factors such as commitment to the task, motivation of the followers, task to be completed, and the relationship between a leader and his/her followers play central roles in swaying the leadership styles explored. To a situational leader, leaders should never be strict. This approach is important in current operational environments. Currently, more people interact with what organizations produce. Customers need swift changes. Without proper skills to match the customer needs, chances are high that organizations and teams can fail. That is addressed effectively in situational leadership where changes are made according to what the leader knows is right and not what he/she is directed to believe as the right action.
There were notable instances of failures as well as those of success during my stint as a leader. One of the areas that I succeeded was support. In modern leadership, people must work with emphasis put on common goals. As such, leaders and followers must support each other in the course of achieving their goals. I, however, was not skilled in time management. Also, my relationship with team members barely extended beyond the professional boundaries, which I find inadequate. Improvements can be sought for better results in areas of weaknesses especially.

A leader must learn about his/her tasks and responsibilities (Nickerson, 2014). Various pieces of literature have been published to aid in understanding leadership right from skills, theories, and roles and functions. Additionally, I interacted with people who required my leadership skills. Leaders can understand the needs of their followers, both material and emotional, if they have physical interactions with those followers. Ultimately, I practiced time management skills such as planning and scheduling for all my activities to reach the results. A leader must find avenues to improve all the time.
The success of the above inputs towards enhancing leadership skills is rooted in many grounds. I believe that I improved considerably. That is measurable on the changes that I manifested after a long interaction with my team members as well as after attempting improvements through the aforementioned strategies. One factor of the measure was time management. I use my time more economically compared to the duration before the project. I am also capable of listening and attempting to addr...
