According to Tulgan (2014), good judgment, a quality necessary to make excellent solutions to problems, refers to the individual’s insight into the causes and possible consequences, and this attribute will help them act accordingly. This depends on previous experiences, and the outcomes of these experiences will tell the individual about the mistakes committed or good actions that resulted in the poor or excellent outcome, respectively. The individual must identify all the complicating circumstances, including the who, what, where, when, and why and analyze the actions retrospectively before the individual makes a decision or action. This method shall help the individual qualify the circumstances that will help prevent the commission of the same mistakes. Hence, for the authors, the most crucial factor in making a sound judgment is an excellent reflection of past activities (pp. 85-88). While it is true that a retrospective approach is needed to analyze past circumstances, the most crucial factor in making a sound judgment is the employee’s self-concept.
Specifically, the self-concept of problem-solving competence pertains to the self-supervision of one’s attributes that contribute to developing his self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy while understanding the differences between these concepts. Self-confidence and self-esteem are critical in maintaining a good sense of self seeing their abilities with high regard. The study has shown that a sufficient amount of self-confidence yields a more superior result than those without, especially in the organization's long-term goals. Moreover, this helps the individual incorporate his personal subjective, cognitive, and emotional aspects to the situation, making the problem-solving skills superior to those who do not value their abilities.
