Executive Summary
Apple has continually shown its dedication to reducing its carbon footprint by funding environmentally friendly projects, such as clean power generation. Notably, the company is among the largest corporations in the world and has so far used over $4.7 billion in Green Bond to complete a significant renewable energy project. Apple’s mission and vision statements make it clear that the company focuses on products and service innovation, enhancing user experience, and making great products without jeopardizing the planet. That is why the corporation is spending on clean power projects to ensure a net zero climate impact emanating from its manufacturing, supply chain, and its entire business.
Project Description
Apple’s commitment to bettering the planet by eliminating climate change was the primary thing that initiated this project. In particular, Apple is a multinational technology firm that deals with smartphones, computers, software, tablets, and other peripherals. The headquarters of this company is at Cupertino, California. Apple’s renewable project was to promote clean energy generation and ensure that local communities have access to it, while at the same time decreasing carbon emissions. The success of the project eliminated an average of about 921,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases annually. That is equivalent to removing approximately 200,000 vehicles from the roads (Apple Inc., 2021). According to Apple’s Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives vice president, Lisa Jackson, everyone has a responsibility to fight against the adverse effects of climate change. Clean power is not only good for businesses, but it fosters environmental conservation. Apple Green Bond project was a good start for the company to show other organizations that they are responsible to make the environment better by reducing the impacts of climate change. The success of the project did not mean that Apple will no longer fund other green energy generation projects. The corporation has proper plans in place to support renewable energy, carbon mitigation, energy efficiency, and carbon engineering and design.
