What do you think of the implications of turning over your data to corporations?
We live in an era the experts call the "Age of Surveillance Capitalism. Corporations do not care about bettering your life when you turn over your data to them. The sole aim of corporations is to maximize profits within their niche. When one submits data to them, the data will probably be used for corporate surveillance and even sell your data to a third party without your knowledge or consent. With your data trading, various corporations fashion their advertisements to target specific people basing on their personal data analysis.
Do you think this data should be sold?
Selling one's data without one consent is wrong and illegal. The data should never be sold. When users turn over their data to a corporation like Facebook or Amazon, they only entrust them with their data. But most often, these corporations go ahead and sell the data, which is illegal and immoral.
Do you feel that TOS (terms of service) should give the company power over your data? Every individual should have authority over their data, and no form of any written agreement should supersede this right.
