In my few years of awareness, I have seen people rub each other wrong and fight over small things. I have seen others make up after a few seconds because one of them acknowledged their mistake. In a world where people are different, the expectation is that people’s experiences will also be different and my experience is a testament to this statement. Growing up in Hefei, Anhui Province in China, life presented its fair share of the good and the bad. I struggled to take in the good and leave out the bad but our minds are good memory keepers and I still remember a lot of my childhood. One thing that I remember is the statement “separating the wheat from the chaff.” This is a statement that my dad told me and from this, I managed to build my ethical philosophy. There were bumps along the way as expected but I managed to find my way. My mother, on the other hand, told me something that I still remember and strive to live by to this day. She told me to do everything in the same way or manner that I would expect other people to do for me. In short, she was telling me to set the standard. My parents do not talk a lot but let their actions speak for the most part. Being an only child meant that I had to learn everything from my parents who are both entrepreneurs. I had to listen intently to everything they said but most of all, observe how they behaved.
