Introduction
Technology advancement has facilitated online shopping where buyers purchase goods over the internet. The buyer browse through the internet, identify the products they like then submit an order. The buyer pays through debit cards then the seller delivers the goods through logistics companies. While in traditional shopping individuals, walk to a store or supermarket, choose goods from the display, pay to the cashier, and then go home with the goods. Traditional shopping and online shopping are both excellent means of shopping and are similar in terms of selection, returns, interactive experience and deals and sales; however, they differ in aspects of convenience, location, and privacy and security (Cao et al., 2012).
Like the traditional shopping, online shopping also provides a variety of stores that customers can select. Most of shopping mall stores have equivalent online stores selling similar products. Both in online shopping and traditional shopping the products purchased can be returned to the retailer for exchange or compensation. However, conditions differ according to retailer’s policy. Both online and traditional shopping will permit customers to return products for full compensation while others permit exchange of products only. Moreover, both traditional shoppers and online customers enjoy the same deals and sales. Shopping mall stores that have corresponding online stores will offer seasonal promotions to both customers. In addition, both traditional shopping and online shopping offer customers interactive experience. While traditional shoppers can compare different sizes and colors of a product, online shoppers can also use the augmented features of shopping websites to see how the product will appear in different colors or in dissimilar sizes (Cao et al., 2012).
